Haoyu “Darren” Wang is a Software Engineer based in Tokyo, Japan, specializing in full-stack development, backend systems, API integration, platform reliability, and QA automation.

Originally from Qingdao, China, Darren graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied Computer Science alongside Data Science and Japanese. His background spans software engineering, creative media, and community-driven initiatives, reflecting his interest in using technology to solve practical problems while creating meaningful social impact.

Darren is also the co-founder of Lifewith# Studio, a multimedia workshop established to amplify minority voices and promote diversity. As part of the studio, he directed To Be a Good Kid, a microfilm exploring the challenges faced by Chinese students studying abroad. His creative work reflects a longstanding commitment to storytelling that gives visibility to underrepresented perspectives.

Beyond software development, Darren has published interdisciplinary research spanning the Internet of Things, the humanities, and economics. This combination of technical expertise, creative thinking, and cross-cultural experience shapes his approach to problem-solving.

Currently working in Tokyo’s technology sector, Darren contributes to the development and operation of digital products and production systems. He continues to explore how software, media, and thoughtful design can be used to build tools that are reliable, accessible, and socially meaningful.
